The Shire of Gingin can today announce that it has been successful in securing $270,685 from the Department of Fire & Emergency Services (DFES) to go towards fire mitigation works for the district to be implemented prior to June 2020.
These works will include:
- Firebreaks
- Prescribed Burning
- Mechanical Works (mulching)
- Chemical Works
This funding is part of the Mitigation Activity Fund which falls under Royalties for Regions which seeks to support activities that build the fire management capacity and overall resilience of regional communities.
The Shire will seek further funding support in 2020 to extend the current work into other areas within the district.
