Mid-Year Small Community Grants - To be Discontinued After Final Round

Published on Wednesday, 18 September 2019 at 3:46:10 PM

The Shire of Gingin will no longer be offering the Mid-Year Small Community Grants after the upcoming 2019/20 round (unless otherwise advertised).

In future all applicants will need to apply to the Shire’s annual Community Grants Program which opens around mid-February. Applications will then be assessed in conjunction with the Shire’s Annual Budget. If you usually apply for the Mid-Year Small Community Grant funding round then you will now need to apply for the Shire’s annual Community Grant Program funding round instead.

The Shire’s upcoming 2019/20 Mid-Year Small Community Grant round will open Monday, 23 September and will close Friday, 18 October 2019 at 4pm.

Once open, the grant opportunity will be promoted through the Shire’s media channels and community groups/clubs will be notified via email if the Shire has their contact details.

Please note the following:

  • REMINDER: All re-occurring events, projects or activities that apply annually for funding from the Shire must STILL CONTINUE TO APPLY EVERY YEAR by submitting a grant application. Failure to apply (as per the guidelines for the Community Grants Program) means that the event, project or activity will not receive any funding from the Shire.
  • If an individual or community group/club is planning a project that is to alter, upgrade and/or add new infrastructure or assets to the Shire of Gingin’s property or land (including leased facilities) then a request for Shire approval (known as a Concept Enquiry) needs to be submitted to the Shire. Further information on this is available via the Frequently Asked Questions Fact Sheet or a copy may be requested via mail@gingin.wa.gov.au (email subject line – 'Concept Enquiry for Projects'). As this process can take a few weeks (and the project cannot progress without Shire approval including applying for grants) the Shire consequently encourages community groups/clubs or individuals to submit their Concept Enquiry as soon as possible.

The Shire trusts that this information will assist community groups/clubs or individuals with planning for any proposed projects and grants.

The Shire recommends that community groups/clubs present this correspondence at their next committee/board meeting to ensure that all members have been informed accordingly.

Should community groups/clubs or individuals have any further questions, please contact the Community Services team on (08) 9575 5100.
