After consultation with the Deputy Chief Bush Fire Control Officers and Officers from the Department of Parks and Wildlife and pursuant to Section 17 (7) of the Bushfires Act 1954, it is hereby notified that the Prohibited Burning Period within the Shire of Gingin will commence from

19 NOVEMBER 2019

The Prohibited Burning Period was brought forward a couple of days given the cancellation of fire permits last week and the very dry conditions the Shire is experiencing this November due to the unusually warm weather.

During this time NO BURNING is permitted for any reason. This includes open cooking or camp fires.

Electric and gas barbeques can still be used during this period, (even on a Total Fire Ban day) so long as there is at least a 3m radius cleared around the barbeque of any flammable material. Solid fuel barbeques (e.g. wood, etc.) CANNOT be used when the Fire Danger Rating is Very High, Severe, Extreme or Catastrophic or if it's a Total Fire Ban.

For further enquiries please contact the Shire of Gingin on (08) 9575 5100.
