Shire Front Desk to Reopen

Published on Thursday, 7 May 2020 at 11:04:00 AM

Shire residents will be pleased to know that as of Monday, 11 May 2020, our front desk will be open again to the public at both our Gingin and Lancelin Offices. This is hopefully the first step of several in the next few weeks as the State Government gradually lifts restrictions and allows WA residents to begin returning to a more normal state of reality.

Certain restrictions will still remain in place for the time being if you visit our front desk including:

  • The number of people that may enter our front desk area at a given time will remain capped so as to observe the 1 person per 4m² rule that remains in place. Please take note of the marks that will be set out on the floor to maintain the 1.5m of recommended social distancing.
  • Hand sanitiser will continue to be provided and visitors to the Shire are encouraged to make use of it.
  • We will also continue to have rope barriers in place at the Gingin Administration Centre to ensure the 1.5m social distancing is observed between visitors to the Shire and staff.
  • We prefer you to use 'tap & go' still instead of cash.
  • If you are unwell, please do not visit us.

The booking of Practical Driving Assessments remains cancelled for the time being until such time as the Department of Transport reactivates this service.

Other Shire services and facilities that have been closed or cancelled in recent weeks due to the COVID-19 Pandemic still remain closed or unavailable for the time being. This includes Council Meetings, the Lancelin Off-road Vehicle Area, both the Gingin and Lancelin Libraries, playgrounds and skate parks, bookings for the Community Bus and also for the Granville Centre. As soon as these services are permitted to resume by the State Government, the Shire will re-open them and advise the public accordingly.

We can't wait to start doing business face to face again with our community. Any enquiries may be directed to the Shire on (08) 9575 5100.
