Moore River Bacteria Update - Caraban Rocks Area

The Shire has commenced testing at the Caraban Rocks (rope swing) area of Moore River and the preliminary results have detected the potential presence of an amoeba which may pose a health risk for swimmers and requires further testing. Health Department Safety signage is in place.

Anyone who has entered these waters and experiencing symptoms including nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal, chest pain etc, should seek medical attention and notify the Department of Health’s Environmental Health Directorate on 9222 2000 (during office hours) or email: ehinfo@health.wa.gov.au.

Testing will continue on a weekly basis for the next few weeks whilst the weather is hot and river usage is high.

Please exercise caution if entering these waters.
