Australia Day 2024

On Friday 26 January the Shire was once again pleased to host the annual Australia Day Citizen of the Year Awards and Picnic Breakfast event at Neergabby. The weather and atmosphere was wonderful and the morning was thoroughly enjoyed by all attendees.

The event began with a Citizenship Ceremony where Shire President Cr Wayne Fewster presided over the pledging of two new Australian Citizens, Georgia Maguire and Yi-Wen Lin.

Hon Melissa Price MP then gave the introduction to the Citizen of the Year Awards, followed by Cr Pecska, Cr Woods, Cr Weeks and Cr Balcombe who read the nominations and presented the awards.

🔹2024 Active Citizenship of the Year Award: Moore Clothes
🔹2024 Senior Community Citizen of the Year Award: Jenny Walker
🔹2024 Young Community Citizen of the Year: Tayla Stratton
🔹2023 Community Citizen of the Year Award: Elle Armitage

Congratulations to the Shire of Gingin’s newest Aussie citizensand award recipients!

We'd like to extend a big thank you to the Gingin Chittering Lions Club who prepared a delicious breakfast, Kelea Gardner for the entertainment, the Neergabby Community Association for the use of the grounds, and the Community Bank Gingin and Lancelin for supporting this event once again.

We'd also like to extend special thanks to our two guest speakers - Officers in Charge Sergeant Jude Seivwright from Gingin Police and Sergeant Michael Patterson from Lancelin Police.
