Further to our advice in January, we can now advise that recent tests have confirmed bacteria levels in Moore River have returned to the acceptable range, as is usual for this time of year.
Shire staff are continuing to monitor these levels in consultation with the Department of Health.
We
still advise that due to potential amoeba risks, not to let river water enter the nasal passage at high pressure ie, activities such as diving or bombing off the pontoon or boats, or water slides off the dunes can be risky, and people should hold their noses on entry into the water.
Also, if you have small children playing in the shallower waters, take care that any high-pressure water toys are not aimed at their faces eg, water pistols.
