Our very best wishes and thoughts are with Evan Lawrence, Nikki Woods, James Morton and Tom Kusters as they join the rest of the Australian firefighters heading to Canada.

Career firefighter Evan, and volunteer firefighters Nikki, James and Tom have been selected to form part of the WA contingent to assist with wildfire containment efforts in Canada.

They have approximately 4.5 weeks of arduous firefighting ahead of them and will be assisting the Canadian authorities protect communities from the devastating wildfires that have broken out across the country over the last 2 months and are still continuing to escalate.

The Australian contingent will form part of a larger international contingent of firefighters from Europe, Africa, NZ, and Central & South America.

Firefighting crews will be working a 14-2/14-2 roster (2 weeks on – 2 days off). Their anticipated return to WA is mid-August.

Wishing them well for a safe trip over, a successful firefighting effort, and a very safe trip home.
