The Shire of Gingin has received an application for the development of a Plantation / Carbon Farm at Lots 1,2,3 and D26681 (459) Karakin Lakes Road, Karakin.
With respect to the abovementioned development application, the following summary is provided:
- It is proposed that the property will be repurposed into carbon farming for the purpose of generating Australian Carbon Credit Units.
- The applicant proposes to plant approximately 3,017 hectares of mixed local native species over four (4) lots.

Submissions should be lodged within 28 days from the date of this notice (by 4.00pm,
17 January 2024). Submissions in relation to this proposal should be made in writing and directed to the Chief Executive Officer either by post to the Shire of Gingin, PO Box 510, Gingin WA 6503 or by email to mail@gingin.wa.gov.au.
