The newly installed electric vehicle (EV) station located on Rock Way adjacent Wangaree Park in Lancelin is now fully operational.
Attending the recent commissioning was Harald Murphy, Secretary of Tesla Owners Club WA, Sandra Giry, Discovery & Design Practitioner for Synergy, Shire of Gingin CEO, Aaron Cook, Deputy Shire President Cr Andrea Vis and Executive Manager Operations & Assets, Vanessa Crispe.
The new EV station is the first for the Shire of Gingin and features charging ports for two vehicles and a Paymate EFTPOS/credit card facility with options to pay by RFID card or an app. It will allow drivers to top up their electric vehicles and get to the next location in as little as 15 minutes.
Most electric cars can run between 300 and 500 kilometres in one full charge, with some achieving ranges above 500km. It is expected the technology will continue to improve over the next few years.
The Lancelin EV station is one of 98 new electric vehicle charging stations being installed around the State by Synergy and Horizon Power as part of the State Government’s $24.4 million Electric Vehicle initiative.
