At its Ordinary Council Meeting on 20 June, the Shire of Gingin agreed to trial free parking at the Guilderton Foreshore for the winter months of 1 July to 31 August 2023.
The decision was made to determine whether paid parking negatively impacts the number of visitors to Guilderton.
The meters will be sign-posted “Print & Display Your Free Parking Ticket or Ratepayer Parking Permit” and set to issue ‘free’ tickets which need to be printed and displayed by visitors.
The free ticket system is necessary to assist the Shire with quantifying and recording the number of visitors to the Foreshore during this period.
Results of the free parking trial period will be reviewed and presented at a future Council meeting for further consideration.
