WA EV Network Update - Lancelin

Published on Wednesday, 24 May 2023 at 11:51:09 AM

Synergy has advised that the “Go-Live” date for the electric vehicle charging station in Lancelin has been delayed. The EV chargers have been installed but they won’t be operational for another 3-4 months.

The EV charging station in Lancelin is located on Rock Way adjacent to Wangaree Park, and will contain two EV chargers – see area highlighted yellow on map below.

Synergy and Western Power are working together to ensure this delay is minimised as much as possible and apologise for any inconvenience the delay may cause.

Further updates will be provided once the chargers are fully operational.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

• WA will soon be home to the longest electric vehicle fast charging network in Australia, with 98 new electric vehicle charging stations being installed across 49 locations along key travel routes averaging less than 200 kilometres apart.
• This initiative is part of the McGowan Government's $24.1 million Electric Vehicle Fund and the State Electric Vehicle Strategy for Western Australia.
• The network stretches north from Perth to Kununurra, along the south-west coast to Esperance and east to Eucla and Kalgoorlie.
• Most electric cars can run between 300 and 500 kilometres in one full charge, with some achieving ranges above 500km. It is expected the technology will continue to improve over the next few years.
• The electric vehicle fast charging network will allow electric vehicles to top up their car allowing them to get to the next location in as little as 15 minutes.
• The Charge Point Operator has recently been announced as Chargefox.
