Works in Progress

Weld St Bridge Replacement

Works to replace Bridge 661 over the Gingin Brook on Weld Street which began after the Easter Long Weekend and are scheduled for completion towards the end of 2026.

Main Roads are managing the project and have contracted Fulton Hogan to do the bridge works.

During the works :

There will be a single lane closure on the bridge which will cause minor delays. Traffic lights will be manually managed by a Traffic Controller.
The rest area to the south of the bridge will be partially closed. There will be no restrictions to the access of CU@Park Café. IGA is still accessible via Brockman St entrance.
The footpaths on both sides of the bridge will be closed for the duration of the project. However, the footpath near the weir will remain open to ensure continued public access.
Construction noise and dust will be generated throughout the duration of the works.

Please be assured that Main Roads and Fulton Hogan will do everything possible to minimise impacts.

Drainage Management Works

Please be advised, that side entry pit and soak well drainage works throughout the Shire have commenced.

These works are essential to improve stormwater management and reduce localised flooding ahead of the winter rains.

What to expect:

• Work crews will be operating on road verges

• Trucks and machinery present at work sites

• Minor disruptions in the immediate work areas

We kindly ask residents and road users to please be mindful of workers when driving past and adhere to all temporary signage in place.

Temporary Removal of Swings - GOAS

Please be advised that works to the remove the swings at the Gingin Outdoor Activity Space (GOAS) are scheduled to commence today, 3 September. We have undertaken an inspection of the playground and found rotten wood resulting in the swings no longer being safe for public use.

The swings will be temporarily removed to ensure the safety of users whilst the replacement process commences. The site will be temporarily fenced off whilst removal works are underway.

Weed Management - 3 Bridges Walk Trail

Please be advised that riparian weed management works along the 3 Bridges Walk trail have commenced and will be carried out throughout the remainder of the month.

Weed control will be undertaken by a contractor who will be targeting the following weed species:

• Black Berry

• Arum Lilly

• Taro

• Kikuyu

• Glyceria

These weed species degrade the biodiversity of the Brook ecosystem by out-competing native vegetation.

Upcoming Works

Upcoming Works - Line Marking, Guilderton

Please be advised that line marking works to the Guilderton Country Club car park are scheduled to take place on Tuesday 13 October from 6:00am and are expected to take approximately one day to complete.

For the duration of these works, the Guilderton Country Club car park will be closed, alternative parking is available in front of the golf club shed or at the old fire brigade shed (now the Shire of Gingin Guilderton Depot).

Green Waste Burn at Seabird Waste Facility Site

Please be advised, on Friday 9 October there will be a green waste burn conducted at the Seabird Waste Facility Site commencing at 4:30pm.

Local Bush Fire Brigades will be in attendance to monitor the burn.

Commencement of Dredging Works at Lancelin - Delayed

The Shire of Gingin has received notification from the Department of Transport and Major Infrastructure that the commencement of the dredging works at Lancelin has been delayed by approximately 2-3 weeks due to forecast weather conditions affecting the safe transportation of the dredge to Lancelin.

Mobilisation activities will be postponed, and a revised works start date will be confirmed pending suitable weather conditions.

The road closure scheduled for 22 October on Gingin Road between Shell Street and the 3 Emus Restaurant in Lancelin will be rescheduled and announced upon confirmation.
