Guilderton Cafe Closing While New Operators Sought

Published on Monday, 30 January 2023 at 2:18:58 PM

The lessees of the Guilderton Café, Belgravia Leisure, have announced they will be closing the café on 31 January to coincide with the end of the school holidays. This decision has been made as a result of increasing operating costs which have made the existing business model for the café unsustainable.

Belgravia are now looking for new operators to take over the café.

As an interim measure, the Shire is investigating mobile food and coffee outlets to provide meal and drink options while new café operators are being sourced.

Rohan Gunton, Belgravia Leisure State Manager said: “We would like to thank all of those involved in the operation of the café and whilst we are sad to say goodbye, we are in discussions with a number of experienced and reputable cafe owners who have expressed interest in taking over the operation of Guilderton café”.

Shire President Wayne Fewster added: “Council looks forward to working with Belgravia and the new lessees to return this service as quickly as possible.”

The café closure will not affect the Guilderton IGA next door which will continue to operate as per their normal business hours with the supply of grocery staples.
