The Shire of Gingin wishes to advise that sand renourishment works at the Lancelin Sands Hotel (1 North Street, Lancelin) are scheduled to commence within the next week and will continue throughout September.

To ensure public safety, temporary fencing will remain in place until dune fencing is installed in the middle of October to assist with dune rehabilitation. These works will be carried out by a contractor on behalf of the Shire.

The primary objective of the renourishment is to place approximately 7000 cubic metres of sand to act as a buffer against tidal activity, reducing further erosion and helping to safeguard the Lancelin Sands Hotel and its visitors. In addition, some native dune vegetation will be planted to help stabilise and strengthen the dune system for the future. The work is jointly funded by the Department of Transport and Major Infrastructure and the Shire of Gingin.

Access to the caravan park and Lancelin Sands Hotel will remain unaffected. We ask that the community stay clear of the temporary fencing and not approach the site while works are underway.
