The Shire of Gingin is excited to receive our Film Friendly accreditation through Screenwest’s Film Friendly Western Australia program.

This accreditation makes us the sixth local government in Western Australia to achieve Film Friendly status, a proud milestone that celebrates our region’s incredible beauty, offerings and commitment to supporting the creative industries.

Becoming Film Friendly means the Shire of Gingin is ready to roll out the red carpet for film and television productions of all sizes. From our pristine coastlines and sweeping dunes to charming townsites and rugged rural landscapes, our region offers rich and diverse film locations, with one of our key drawcards being our proximity to Perth.

The accreditation highlights the exciting potential for the Shire to attract new creative opportunities and economic benefits. Shire President, Cr Linda Balcombe said: “The Shire of Gingin is proud to be officially certified as a Film Friendly Shire, recognising our commitment to supporting film, television, and creative productions across the region. This certification highlights our stunning natural landscapes, welcoming communities, and streamlined approval processes that make it easier for film makers to bring their stories to life. From pristine coastlines to scenic rural settings, the Shire of Gingin offers a diverse backdrop for storytelling and continues to embrace opportunities that showcase our unique local character on screen.”

The Film Friendly Western Australia program provides training and support to help local governments make filming projects easier and more accessible, making it easier for filmmakers to find ‘production-ready’ communities in Western Australia. WA has six certified film friendly communities including the City of Albany, City of Busselton, City of Bunbury, Shire of West Arthur, Shire of Shark Bay and now the Shire of Gingin. For Gingin, accreditation means more chances to welcome filmmakers, boost local businesses, and share our unique region with the rest of the world.

We look forward to seeing our Shires landscapes and stories captured on screen, and to the opportunities this accreditation brings for community, culture and commerce.
