Please be advised, as of this morning, Hinchcliffe Lookout has been fenced off and closed to the public to ensure the safety of our community.
While demolition works were scheduled to begin this morning, these works have been delayed. Council and Shire staff are continuing to assess the site, taking into account the extent of coastal erosion and the safest way forward and will provide a further update in due course.
We understand and respect the strong community connection to the lookout and acknowledge the concerns raised regarding its demolition. Please know that this decision has not been made lightly. However, with the rapid coastal erosion significantly impacting the area, public safety must remain our top priority.
