The next Census is on Tuesday 11 August 2026. Everyone in Australia on Census night must be counted.
The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is hiring more than 30,000 people across Australia to support to 2026 Census.
From 5 January, there will be 130 Local Engagement Officer jobs available, including some in the Shire of Gingin.
Local Engagement Officers
Local Engagement Officers have an important job, helping diverse communities complete the Census.
They manage a team of local field staff and build relationships with community groups and key stakeholders. They coordinate information hubs and run sessions to support diverse population groups.
The ABS are looking for people who are connected to their community and have lived experienced and/or experience working with:
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
- people from culturally and linguistically diverse communities
- people experiencing homelessness
- people living with a disability
- youth or older Australians.
