Celebrating Emergency Services Volunteers and Personnel

On Saturday, we recognised the incredible emergency services volunteers and personnel in our Shire at Moore River Brewing Co to celebrate National Volunteer Week. We saw an incredible turn out during the afternoon, with lots of community members and families chatting to the different emergency organisations.

The Tug-of-War was a big hit, as St John Ambulance, Bush Fire Service, WAPOL and Fire & Rescue competed for the win (with the help of some community members). We saw some tough battles, but in the end WAPOL took the prize.

Following the afternoon, we hosted a dinner for our emergency services volunteers, personnel and their families. We had some bushfire service awards presented, along with short speeches and recognitions from Shire President, Linda Balcombe, Acting Super Intendent Metro North Coastal, Rob Johnstone (DFES), and Sgt Michael Paterson (Lancelin Police).

Thank you to the organisations who attended the afternoon - St John Ambulance, Bush Fire Service, Red Cross WA, Fire & Rescue, Lancelin Marine Rescue, Gingin and Lancelin Police, Hose A (Wanneroo BFB), and Jess Loves to Paint.

Thank you Moore River Brewing Co for hosting us and serving the delicious dinner and dessert.

Thank you to Volunteering WA, Lotterywest and Minderoo Foundation, without whom, this event wouldn't be possible.
