Media Release - Hopkins St Proposed Road Closure

Published on Thursday, 5 March 2020 at 9:53:53 AM

Please attribute the information below to Shire President, Cr Wayne Fewster.

Thank you to those community members who have made a recent submission regarding the closure of the beach access from Hopkins St, Lancelin.

Shire President, Cr Wayne Fewster, would like to advise that:

“Unfortunately information recently distributed by Cr Frank Peczka flagging the supposed additional closure of the Edward Island Point access track is incorrect.

Council is only considering the closure of the short track accessing the beach from the end of Hopkins Street next to the Volunteer Marine Rescue building. No other closures have been considered or even discussed by Council.

That being the case, if community members have made a submission then it should be noted that only comments relating to the closure of the Hopkins Street beach access will be considered.”

Further enquiries on this matter may be directed to Aaron Cook, Chief Executive Officer, on (08) 9575 5100.
