If you own, manage, or work on a rural property in the Shire of Gingin, you may find yourself assisting in a bushfire response on or near your property. We refer to this as Spontaneous Volunteers or Farmer Response.
To help keep yourself, your property and others safe, the Shire encourages anyone that is likely to assist with bushfire response to complete the free DFES Rural Fire Awareness Training.

- Approximately 2-3 hours to complete
- Can be completed over multiple sessions within 30 days

As Spontaneous Volunteers work under the direction of the Incident Controller at Shire-managed incidents, the Shire has obligations under Work Health and Safety legislation to ensure volunteers can operate safely. To meet these requirements, anyone intending to assist during bushfire incidents should also register as a Spontaneous Volunteer:
