The Shire of Gingin and local volunteer bush fire brigades will be conducting prescribed fuel reduction burns along Nilgen Rd, Nilgen from 10:00am - 6:00pm on Monday, 4 May 2026.
In an effort to ensure our volunteer firefighters safety, the Shire will be closing Nilgen Rd from Bottlebrush Drive to the North and KW Rd to the South during this period. Local access will be managed when safe to do so.
Whilst some inconvenience can be expected due to the associated smoke, the protection of our community from the threat of bushfire is essential.
The prescribed burn will be conducted under a mild East South-Easterly breeze and it is anticipated that there will be minimal impact to surrounding roads, travellers are reminded to remain alert and drive to the conditions.
If you have any concerns relating to effects of smoke, it is recommended you keep windows closed and remain indoors for the duration of this period.
