The Shire of Gingin had four vacancies at
this year’s local government election. The results of the election were that:
- Elected Candidates – Craig Hyne, Marten Kornaat, David Wilkie
- Re-elected Candidates – Linda Balcombe
Prior to the swearing in ceremony, Mr Marten Kornaat formally declined the position of Councillor. As such, the next highest polling candidate, Mr Robert Kestel was invited to fill the vacancy and accepted.
The newly elected Councillors made their Declarations of Office before local Justice of the Peace, Margaret Greenwell.
The Shire also extends its thanks to Cr Frank Johnson and Cr Erik Sorenson, who did not stand for re-election, for their valuable service to the community and Council, and wishes them all the best for the future.
