We are pleased to announce, following the release of the Financial Audit Results – Local Government 2025, the Office of the Auditor General (OAG) has recognised the Shire of Gingin as one of the Top 20 (Band 3,4 and other entities) Best Practice Entities.
The report summarises the results of financial audits across 138 local governments and highlights councils delivering accurate financial reporting and strong audit outcomes. The quality of financial reporting is measured against the following:
- timeliness of CEO-certified financial report;
- quality of financial report (including the number of errors identified);
- quality of working papers that support the financial report;
- management resolution of accounting matters;
- key staff availability during the audit;
- number and significance of management letter findings;
- clear opinion with no Emphasis of Matter or other audit report modifications.
This recognition reflects the amazing work our team do, a combination of expert professional knowledge, teamwork, determination and genuine commitment is what makes achievements like this possible, and we are so proud to be delivering some of the best financial reporting across WA local governments.
