With Tropical Cyclone Narelle inching closer, the Shire of Gingin has conducted a number of preparation activities to respond to the severe weather conditions and potential impacts on our community, infrastructure and roads.

This advice is being provided to support community preparation, and the Shire will continue to share updates as further information becomes available from DFES and BoM.

We’re on stand-by:

  • A number of our Operations Crew, Administration Staff and Rangers are on standby to respond should we be required.
  • Our Operations crew will be available to respond to clearing Shire of Gingin roads and infrastructure damage/clean up as required.
  • Administration Staff will be assisting with out-of-hours calls, queries and communications.
  • Our Marketing and Communications Team will be sharing information, advice and updates through the weekend as required, so to stay up to date - follow us on Facebook for real-time updates or keep an eye on the ‘Latest News’ section of our website.
  • We’ve commenced a number of tidy-up and tie-down activities, ensuring infrastructure and drainage is clear of debris and loose-items are stored away/tied down.
  • We’ve lowered the Brook to allow for significant rainfall in preparation for flash-flooding.
  • Equipment and machinery have been prepared, fuelled and strategically placed throughout the Shire should they be required by our Operations Crew.

Shire Facility Closures:

  • We will be temporarily closing all three Waste Facility Sites on Friday and Saturday (27-28 March).
  • We have temporarily closed the Gingin Aquatic Centre today (Thursday 26 March), until Sunday, reopening Monday 30 March at 12:00pm.
