The Shire of Gingin advises that Tropical Cyclone Narelle may impact parts of the region over the weekend with the first of the severe weather expected early Friday morning. This advice is being provided to support community preparation, and the Shire will continue to share updates as further information becomes available from DFES and BoM.
We would like to encourage community members to commence preparedness activities in advance of potential strong winds and rainfall, and if your planning non-essential travel over the weekend, we would urge you to reconsider.

Property preparation:
- Secure or store outdoor furniture and loose items
- Tie down items that cannot be moved
- Ensure windows, doors and garage doors are properly closed
- Park vehicles under cover where possible, if parking outside, ensure vehicles are secure and windows are closed
- Prepare your livestock and pets with shelter and accessible food/water
- Prepare your emergency evacuation kit

- Localised power outages
- Temporary water service interruptions
- Strong winds
- Heavy rainfall
- Isolated flash flooding
- Storm surge and swell
The Shire of Gingin will have crews on standby to respond as required throughout this event.
