Upcoming Works - Routine Sand Renourishment Works

Published on Wednesday, 25 March 2026 at 2:28:26 PM

The Shire of Gingin advises that routine sand renourishment works along the Lancelin foreshore in front of the Lancelin Sands Hotel are scheduled to commence soon.

These works are a temporary measure to help protect the vulnerable foreshore area, providing us with more time to work towards a longer-term solution. This includes progressing a 12–24 month plan while the CHRMAP is being considered and further investigations are undertaken to better understand why the erosion is occurring in the current location and to develop options for a longer-term solution, all while maintaining beach amenity and safety.

Residents and visitors can expect to see machinery operating on the beach during this time. Where possible, access to the beach will remain available, however minor and short-term disruptions may occur while works are underway. We appreciate the community’s cooperation around machinery and work zones.

Due to forecast weather conditions, including a significant storm system expected later this week, the timing of these works may be subject to change. Should conditions impact the foreshore or operational requirements, works may be postponed or rescheduled.

Further updates will be provided as the project progresses. We thank the community for your understanding as we prepare to deliver these works.
