Published on Friday, 23 December 2022 at 12:38:35 PM

The Upper Coastal Sporting Facilities Working Group (UCSFWG) held its second meeting on the 21 December 2022 at the Lancelin Sporting Complex to continue its review of the sporting facilities’ priorities, including those included in Upper Coastal Sporting Facilities Masterplan.

Chaired by Cr Kestel, the meeting was attended by representatives from:

  • Lancelin Community and Sporting Club Inc.
  • Lancelin Bowling Club
  • Lancelin Golf Club
  • Ledge Point Country Club
  • Ledge Point Bowling Club
  • Pegasus Shooting Club
  • Shire of Gingin

Apologies were received from the Lancelin Ledge Point Football Club, Lancelin Ledge Point Basketball Club, Lancelin Ledge Point Netball Club Ledge Point Golf Club, and the Lancelin Ledge Point Hockey Club.

As agreed at its meeting of 9 November, Club representatives submitted comments on any priorities they wished added, deleted, or modified for inclusion with those priorities to be reviewed. These were then collated for consideration by the UCSFWG at this meeting.

After agreeing to include both the Lancelin Golf Club and Lancelin Bowling Club in the Masterplan, the UCSFWG then assessed and ranked those projects to be included in Stage 1 of the Plan. These included the disabled access (upper to middle level) at the Lancelin Sporting Complex, lighting to the Lancelin football oval, installation of a synthetic bowling green at Lancelin, installation of a second multi-purpose court at Lancelin, and relocation of the Pegasus Shooting Club.

The next meeting is scheduled to be held on Wednesday 8 February at 5.00pm at which time the USCFWG will have finalised its review of the Stage 1 projects for submission to Council for its consideration.
